While several past MCU characters have been recast by Marvel Studios, a producer on Black Panther 3 says there is no truth to the rumors about the studio looking to replace the late, great Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. Boseman first brought Black Panther to life on the big screen in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, the movie which also introduced Tom Holland as Spider-Man. The character was then given a standalone film in 2018, becoming the first black superhero to have their own movie in the MCU. Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, was a landmark moment for representation in the genre. Boseman sadly passed away two years later in 2020, and the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was re-written to incorporate the actor’s death, with Shuri (Letitia Wright) becoming the next Black Panther, as well as revealing T’Challa had a secret son. But, a rumor has spread across the internet over the past few months about Marvel Studios potentially recasting T’Challa.
