Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star, Jonathan Majors, was arrested in New York late last month on charges that TMZ claims included “strangulation, assault, and harassment” of a woman who is believed to be his girlfriend. Since then, there have been rumours circulating that Marvel Studios may recast Majors’ role as Kang the Conqueror, the main villain in the upcoming film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
However, a new report from Deadline indicates that “there’s been zero conversations in the Marvel camp to drop Majors from the MCU.” This comes as a relief to many fans who were eagerly awaiting the release of the movie. Deadline also notes that Majors has already filmed his part as Kang in Loki season 2. Additionally, The Kang Dynasty isn’t expected to begin production “for quite some time.”
The good news stops there for Majors, as he is set to appear in court on May 8. His lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, had previously issued a statement predicting that “we expect these charges to be dropped soon.” However, this has not yet come to pass.
In light of these charges, Entertainment 360, Majors’ talent management company, and his PR firm, The Lede Company, have dropped him. Deadline’s report notes that Entertainment 360 parted ways with Majors “due to issues surrounding the actor’s personal behaviour.” While Majors’ talent agency, William Morris Endeavour, still counts him as a client, it remains to be seen whether this will change following his court date.
