Howard the Duck is a Marvel Comics character created by writer Steve Gerber and artist Val Mayerik. He first appeared in Adventure into Fear #19 (cover-dated Dec. 1973) as a secondary character, but quickly gained popularity and became the star of his own series. Howard is a talking duck from another dimension who finds himself stranded on Earth. He is cantankerous and prone to getting into trouble, often finding himself at odds with other characters. Despite his grumpy demeanor, Howard is a kind-hearted and clever individual who uses his wits to get out of difficult situations. In terms of powers, Howard does not have any superpowers, but he is highly intelligent and resourceful. He is an expert at martial arts and is skilled with a variety of weapons, including his trusty cane. Despite his small size, Howard is incredibly strong and resilient, able to hold his own against much larger opponents. In his original comic book appearances, Howard wore a yellow suit and a red tie. He is known for his sharp wit and quick-thinking, often using humor to diffuse tense situations.
